Dan Cammish NAPA Racing UK  - Free Practice - Donington Park - 18 April 2026

Dan, free practice, Dan, cold day, sunshine. It seemed like it's just like the odd session talking to people, because it do you run a race setup? Do you run a quality setup?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, no, it's it's a bit strange, isn't it? And we've just asked that same question, you know, you sort of look where you are and you sort of go, okay, I know my car's not handling that great. I think there might be a bit of wind out towards the back, maybe like McLeans and copies make it particularly difficult, but you don't know. Like that's the that's the unknown now, isn't it? Like you can you could you could quite happily qualify fifth or sixth and think, oh my god, we're not very good. And then come the race, all those in front of you have select reverse after five minutes because the car can't do, you know, there's a there's a that that that's where we're at. We actually don't know. I have no idea what everybody else is gonna do. There's also different ways to get to the same result, you know. Do you try and qualify at the front and hang on? I don't know, like it's a lot to think about, and I've you know it's an unknown. You know, we've gone with you know, we're sort of in the race setup way to see make sure we can do a bit of both. Is actually that the right way, or should you just go all in on one end and live with it? I don't know. I guess we're gonna find out this afternoon. Um yeah, we had a few teething troubles that I'm surprised at to be fair, but I think the guys will get on top of it very quick. Loads of data now to look at video and understand what we can do to improve for this afternoon.

SPEAKER_00

There isn't a big gap between where you are, I think, in fifth or sixth and and uh what's currently the quickest time, isn't there? That's easily made up. It's easy for me to say, of course.

SPEAKER_02

But I think you know, my the the actual lap time that counted was was very mediocre. We we certainly put in some better sectors after that. Um I said we chased sort of a middle sector all session there. It was really particularly hard to drive in the middle. I don't know why I said maybe there's a little bit of a crosswind or something. But um today it will show us more video and then we'll um see if we can piece it all together for qualifying, which is what we always do, so I'm sure we'll be fine.

SPEAKER_01

It could be a really quirky day, couldn't it? With new cars on the grid and and things changing. I mean, there are so many variables to it. It is variable, you know.

SPEAKER_02

You you know this car's had a fair bit of development, and then you look up and down the grid, and there's some new cars that are going really well. And um the truth is it's British touring cars, and a lot of the underpinnings are the same, and a lot of the people working on some of these cars have worked on numerous cars over their career. So, why won't they go well? You know, I mean it's not Formula One. It's um ultimately it's a it's a saloon with a bit of roll cage in. So I think I wouldn't be surprised if you see some of the newer teams and some of the newer cars right on the pace early on because the engineering behind them doesn't change. Um so yeah, let's see. Um we'll we'll be in the mix, I'm sure. Have a great weekend, thanks, mate.
