Dan interesting tricky cold conditions to kick us off on on Sunday and so close to a podium there. Yeah, it was it was a funny old race. We got um disappointed really with the with the outcome in in many ways, but the start the first lap did a good job of getting up to P2 and uh you know behind Ash at the time and um I thought Ricky had sort of thrown me a bit of a I thought he was gonna throw down the inside of Graham Hill and I decided to leave him a little bit of room, but the track been damped it was actually much damper on the little bit that I decided to go on. On a wet tire I'd have been fine, but not on a slick. And I actually lost the rear a little bit and scrabbled round and lost two positions, and that was kind of what set the tone of my race. I think had we had we have been um avoided that situation, I think we could have pushed Ash round and tried for the win. But you know, we've got a very fast car, it's just really difficult figuring out how to use it at the moment, especially in those sort of conditions, but equally and surrounded by guys that have got double the boost that I've got. Um, I ended up stuck in an awful cat and mouse, not knowing whether I should be going forwards or trying to go backwards, or it's not it's not great. You know, I'm having to sort of drive round uh what feels like a sort of seven, eight tenths, knowing that if I try and attack the guy in front, he just deploys with me and then he backs me into Tom Ingram, who's got the double the deployment, or I end up sort of stuck. I can't seem to when we when we deploy we're very quick, when they don't deploy, we're still faster. Um yeah, it's a bit of cat and mouse. Those are things you can't plan for, you have to make snap decisions uh out on the track, don't you? You do. When I was going around, I sort of tried to speak to my engineer and say, look, what what what what do we want to do? Like what are we trying to achieve? And I'm very conscious of of sort of what we've proven at times last year. Um and in the end I thought I think I I'm gonna take a big decision. I think I want to be I think I want to be fourth. Um and it's not like me, it feels very unnatural, that's why I keep my head down. But um I I I thought, you know what, I think the I think the bigger picture here is to try and be fourth and take choice of tires into the next one. Um okay, Tom Ingram's also on the soft, but I can race, I'll have to race Tom Wheel to Wheel for you know for the win ultimately if that's what it comes to. So I wanted to give myself that opportunity, um, knowing that the front two would that now be on less boost, Ingram will be on less boost, and um we should have a very good car. So yeah, it was a tough call and it's not a nice one. Uh it took me a little while to to decide um all the time trying to sort of sortly talk between am I meant to be trying you know, attacking the car in front or am I meant to be uh no, I I don't know, it's not very it's weird, it's very, very weird. You know, I've the old days of just knowing that you had what you had and and you didn't really have to worry too much about uh how the permutations might lead further down the line. Now you're trying to think always like chess, really it feels a bit like chess out there sometimes. So yeah, it's what it is, P four, uh it's decent sensible points and we have an opportunity, I hope, to go again this afternoon.
