Josh Cook Speedworks Corolla Racing - Qualifying Race - Snetterton - 23 May 2026

Josh, that's the qualifying race uh over and done with uh at a very warm Snetterton. Um quite something particularly after this morning's session where it didn't all look to be going right for you, but it's come good in the qualifying race.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it was um It was a nice turnaround, that's for sure. Um from pre-practice. We we struggled in pre-practice, but you know, we just had to chip away and try and nudge the car back in the in in the right direction. And it's so sensitive for us, you know, with this car. So once you get it in a window, it's good, but if we just wander out of that window, it's um it becomes a handful. So we we ran through quite a few things this morning, but of course it probably looked worse than what it was. But it was nice just to bother a new set of tires on and go out in time to qualifying and obviously get a P3 overall and then um you know, of course to go into that into that race for pole and gain a place. I think we had a decent car beneath us, but it's still a little bit to fine to be able to catch that BMW.
SPEAKER_01Um you're obviously able to find out what the issue was this morning. I mean for people who don't understand, we're we're not are we talking big changes you had to make, or were they like little tweaks here and there? Turned out I was pulling the gear lever the wrong way. That's that's a good one. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Uh no, the changes are really small, but you know, it's actually part of when we talk about you know an engineer driver relationship, it's it's actually more a uh I guess a range thing that you're discussing, and you know, I can say I'd like you to do this to the car or stiffen the rear roll bar. And my engineer may decide that you know he's got a different scale, you know. You know, how big's a little bit? You know, you both have to be reading off the same hymn sheet. That's a very difficult thing to to learn from each other. So you know, we did just some small changes, there was nothing massive, but there was a lot of things to do, and the team had um yeah, big jobs to do, so you know well done to them for getting it all done.
SPEAKER_01Puts you set very nicely at the uh the sharp end of the grid for uh the start of racing tomorrow.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I think we should be okay. Um obviously it's gonna be very hot tomorrow, but the car seems in a in a good place, um, you know, I'm comfortable, but uh yeah, as always we need to try and find a little bit more. Really well done, Josh. Thanks.
