Well Santa, congratulations, you carved out a very nice P4 for yourself here at Truxton. Yeah, we started P5 and ended up P4, so I suppose looking on the surface you could call it a success, but there was a few things I did wrong, so frustrated myself. I think I could have brought the team home a podium there, which would have been an absolute dream, but we'll have to maybe wait till the second race for that.

SPEAKER_00

There was a lot of disparities between uh the sort of bunch who were working around you with how much boost they had, and then of course tire wear comes in at the end. I mean those are the the variables which make the difference between a P3, a P4, and a P5, don't they?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, absolutely. You know, uh I had uh Dan Robotom in front of me and he deployed he his his tactic was to deploy early, um which we found out when Cumlap 3-4 he he he deployed away from me. Then I kind of thought I'd save mine, but then the tires went off, and then once I could deploy I couldn't get back to him because the tires were gone, so maybe a little bit of learning that I need to do there. Um I suppose the deployments are a really weird thing because if someone does it, you're almost too late to do it, and once by the time your team have told you they're deploying, you don't have time to. So yeah, it's uh it's a bit of a learning process. We're we're chipping away it quite nicely at the minute. You know, we can't be disappointed with P4, absolutely not. You know, having been in the car all year, jumping it yesterday, and you know, this is you know uh a really good result for us, so I can't I can't grumble too much, but as racing drivers it will it won't we can win the race and we'll still find things to moan about. So you know we like we like our excuse book as well, but when stuff doesn't go quite as planned, we're always self-critical.

SPEAKER_00

I'm just watching the the TV coverage. We know it's a hot uh track here today, and how abrasive Thruxton is. Everybody seems to be hanging on at the end with tire wear.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, tireware is the biggest factor is trying to get as much grip as you can in the car without trying to kill the front tyre. You know, we could get way more pace in the first five laps, but then the last five laps will be an absolute horror, and we're at risk of punches and other bits and bobs. So we're just trying to chip away at the minute, try and try and work out where we need to be, what we need to do to the car, and not be too greedy with the tyres, um, not not buy off more we can chew. So we'll uh there's two more races to go. Um the temperature just seems to be picking up now a bit as well, so it's gonna get worse and worse through the day, I suppose. But we'll uh we'll keep navigating and we'll be alright. Great start to race day though, well done. Thank you very much.
